Mario
Sanz
is a filmmaker and producer. After graduating in Documentary Filmmaking from ECAM, he consolidated his directorial profile as part of the inaugural cohort at Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (EQZE), where he earned his Master’s in Filmmaking Studies. During this period, he developed his acclaimed short film Zehn Minuten vor Mitternacht under the guidance of Carlos Muguiro (Director of Studies), alongside filmmakers Laida Lertxundi and Oliver Laxe as project mentors.

Based in Donostia-San Sebastián, Mario specializes in contemporary auteur narratives with international festival reach, as well as comprehensive post-production. He seamlessly bridges the creative vision of his personal, independent projects with technical and logistical expertise on large-scale sets for global platforms like Netflix and Apple TV+.

Currently, Mario is developing PÓRTLAND / TURNO DE NOCHE, his first feature-length documentary, which explores active listening and collaboration within the industrial landscape of Olazti. In parallel, he is writing LAS NUBES, a period fiction feature centered on Hodeia, a female ex-pirate, examining the construction of narrative and the threshold between identity and legend.
